Zoi Chisholm
Yoga for the Special
Child®LLC Licensed Teacher
Zoi has been practicing yoga in 1995. She worked for Capability Scotland enabling
adults and children with physical and learning disabilities until 2000 when she
stopped work to raise her young family. Zoi qualified from Chi Yoga School Scotland
in August 2005, and continues her yoga studies in Integral Hatha Yoga under the
guidance of her guru Sonia Sumar, founder of Yoga for the Special Child, LLC,
graduating as a Integral Hatha Yoga teacher in August 2009. She also has a
Radiant Child Yoga Programme certification.
For Zoi, she recognises her
life's work in her children and for all who have special needs. She was blessed
to find out about the work Jo Manual was doing in London
in The Special Yoga Centre and inspired by Jo to make Yoga genuinely available
to all in Scotland. She was instrumental in setting up the
charity Yoga Health and Therapy Centre in Scotland for promoting yoga to
children and adults with special needs in 2007 which sadly closed in June 2009
due to lack of funding for its work.
Miraculously, Zoi together with Caroline Forbes (Sing and Sign) managed
to open Perth’s Yoga Space in August 2009 to continue her work offering yoga
and Sing and Sign in Perth and Dundee.
Zoi also teaches Yoga for people with sight impairments
at P & K Society for the Blind, New Row, Perth.
Please call the Blind Society 01738 626969 to join the class if you are registered blind or
if you are a carer of children or adults with visual impairments.
Zoi has two wonderful children one of whom has autism. Her
children enjoy doing yoga. It is the gift of her daughters, one full of
compassion for all life and the other with autism for whom yoga is so innate
and part of her way of being, that Zoi continues her work and training.

Caroline Forbes,
Sing & Sign
Being a parent of a son with special needs, Caroline realises the
importance of early intervention and communication with ALL children at an
early age. Sing and Sign not only gives the babies a chance to communicate
before speech, but it is great fun too. Caroline has signed to both of her
boys, Scott who has delayed speech still signs and his brother Tom has advanced
vocabulary for his age. She attended
Sing and Sign classes in Edinburgh and when her
family moved to Perth
5 years ago. Caroline thought it would
be a great opportunity to share the benefits of Sing and Sign in Perthshire and
Dundee.
She has had many fantastic signing babies and happy parents go though the
sing and sign curriculum. Caroline is
the co-founder of Perth’s
